December 4th

Set up 2 shorter tracks with the food spaced father apart.

Track 1

25 feet with food spaced 10-12 inches apart. He stayed pretty straight but once we got to the article it took some enticing to get him to engage.

Track 2

Stayed at 25 feet but spaced the food farther apart to 12-14 inches. He started to weave back and forth a bit while looking for the food. Towards the end, he did straighten up. The article at the end was still not too exciting. I had him pick it a couple of times and treated him right away.

  1. I thought his food drop pattern in T1 had better results. Regarding article - you need to decide between GET IT, GRAB IT, PICK IT UP. Stick with one. I personally would not be placing an article on his track until he is more reliable on the pick up. He would be looking for that blue stocking cap in my house every morning for his breakfast and every night for his dinner. Make it a game. Stop picking it up for him if you want HIM to pick it up. If you are holding his dinner bowl and don't put dinner down until he picks it up, he will pick it up. It might take you putting the bowl away a couple of times when he stalls. You are doing all the work! He needs to step up and participate. Watch the Hide and Seek video, watch the Can You? video, look at Andrea and Otter's journal - he picks it up unprompted 90 % of the time.
